Tizen animations teased on Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE
Tizen, a platform backed up by Samsung and Intel, and almost entirely reliant on HTML5 just ended up on the Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE for a quick spin, giving us a better idea about what’s in store. Tizen sounded more like a puzzle rather than a real-world platform just a week or so ago, but then came an endorsement by Sprint, the release of version 1.0 of the platform and a prototype device along with a developers’ conference. All of this is an indication that the platform is not that far from ending up on actual devices.
The video below demonstrates the animation effects on Tizen, starting with image gallery where you can scroll through images in a spiral or a list view, with a neat, smooth animation. We don’t really see any practical value in such layouts – they actually seem counterintuitive and a bit cumbersome to use, but for those who want an extra flare, that’s it.
The effects, the scalable UI, built with the help of CSS, HTML5, and open standards, are also impressive, but again we saw no real contribution to usability. If it’s for bragging rights, though, Tizen gets them – check out the video below and let us know what you think about the effects and the Tizen Animation Framework.
