Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 have been waiting patiently for their devices to get upgraded to Android 4.2.2. Currently, both of Samsung's 2012 flagships are running on Android 4.1.2 , which is two iterations behind the latest version of Android Jelly Bean.
Now we've heard that both
devices won't get Android 4.2.2 at all, but fear not because they are expected
to be updated straight to Android 4.3. The news comes from a German
operator who confirmed their information on their customer support forums,
although no information was given on the
timescale for its roll-out.
Getting new versions of Android running on older devices is always time-consuming , but we'd still expect the update to land in the next couple of months. What improvements can owners of the Galaxy S3 and Note 2 expect when Android 4.3 finally lands ?
We can't be sure exactly which new features will come to Samsung's smartphones, but both devices should get support for actionable notifications and the new "Daydream" interactive screen saver. They are also likely to get lock-screen widgets, the ability to take panoramic photos (Photosphere) and support for restricted profiles.
