Samsung Reveals Galaxy Camera 2
Today, in official annoucement Samsung unveiled the successor of the Galaxy Camera – called, with no surprise a Galaxy Camera 2. Upgraded device features Quad-Core 1.6GHz SoC, 2GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage space (amount of internal storage for user data is only 2.8GB), MicroSD slot for cards size up to 64GB, Wi-Fi (a/b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, and upgraded to 2000mAh battery. There is no info yet if we will see a 3G or LTE version, but we hope that it will be released a bit later.
The Galaxy Camera 2 main task is to make photos and so this one shoots pictures with help of 1/2.33″ BSI sensor with 16.3 Megapixel effective resolution and 21x optical zoom lens with optical image stabilization. As for video recording capabilities, you can shoot videos in [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected] modes, which also remain unchanged when comparing to previous Galaxy Camera version. Samsung claims that despite unchanged sensor, the image processing system has been improved – and so it should provide much better shoots.
Galaxy Camera 2 runs on Android Jelly Bean 4.3, with latest version of TouchWiz UI. There are rumors that it may also support Galaxy Gear smartwatch as remote controller, but this is not yet confirmed.
There is also no official pricing and availability info, but this will be most probably annouced at upcoming CES 2014 which happens between 7th and 10th of January.
