Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 pre-orders start online at Office Depot for $399.99, shipping on May 11

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 is now up for pre-order in the US courtesy of Office Depot. The pre-ordering takes place online only, and the price you’ll need to pay is $399.99. That will net you a Wi-Fi-only version of the tablet with 16 GB of built-in storage space, which is double the amount we thought that we’d see at this price point. So that’s a good thing.

The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 will be shipped out to you by Office Depot starting on May 11, which is just six (short?) days from now. The last thing to keep in mind is that the retailer has imposed a limit of two tablets pre-ordered per customer. So in case you were thinking of snatching up a dozen or so units, you’ll have to wait until it actually becomes available.

The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 didn’t get a quad-core processor after all, despite rumors on the matter, so you’re ‘stuck’ with a dual-core unit, just like in the original Galaxy Tab 10.1 from last year. In fact, the only new things the Galaxy Tab 2 brings compared to its predecessor are a new design, microSD card support, and the fact that it runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich from the beginning.
