Will the Galaxy S4 Active support wireless charging? That's the biggest gripe I have with my Rugby... IP67 is all fine and good, but having to pry the cover off the charge port every night gets a bit tiresome.
Samsung Galaxy S 4 Active goes Official
Today, Samsung confirmed another, widely rumored Galaxy S4 variant – Galaxy S4 Active. The rugged variant of Samsung’s flagship phone is compliant with IP67 standard, which means the phone should work perfectly fine for up to 30 minutes under water (between 15cm and 1m – as the standard says) and is fully dust resistant.
It also varies on the hardware side. Samsung Galaxy S4 Active packs 5″ Full HD TFT LCD display instead of Full HD Super AMOLED found in original Galaxy S4, and is powered by Snapdragon 600 1.9GHz quad-core processor and 2GB RAM – like in the GT-I9505 version of Galaxy S4. The main camera is 8Mpx with LED flash and 2Mpx on the front. Main shooter features additional Aqua Mode to shoot images and videos underwater. Rest of the specs are LTE support, WiFi, IrDA, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, 16GB internal memory, microSD card slot (up to 64GB) and 2600mAh battery.
The phone will also pack software features that original Galaxy S4 have, that includes Smart Scroll and Smart Pause, Air View and Air Gestures, S Translator, S Health, Samsung Link, Samsung Hub.
The phone will be showcased at the Premiere event in London at 20th of June and will be available for purchase this summer in US and Sweden followed by other regions. Initial color options will be, Urban Grey, Dive Blue and Orange Flare.
