Samsung Announces New Era of Smart Home

Today, two days before CES 2014, Samsung annunced its vision of Smart Home with Samsung Smart Home project. And it looks like we are heading to Smart Home that will be easy to adopt by everyone at their home using the devices most of us already own!

Samsung Smart Home will allow users to control and manage their home devices through a single application by connecting personal and home devices like refrigerators, washing machines, Smart TVs, Air conditioning and even the wearable devices like GALAXY Gear through an integrated Smart Home platform and server.

Smart Home will also support Voice Commands. In example, if user will say ‘going out’ to it’s Galaxy Gear, a Samsung Smart Home platform will turn off configured devices, and turn of home lighting, in another example – if user will say ‘good night’ to its Smart TV remote controll, the TV will be turned off, home lights dimmed and ready to receive command to turn off when the user will be ready for sleep.

To achieve that functionality and interconnectivity between wide range of devices also from other manufacturers,  Samsung has developed a dedicated Smart Home software protocol (SHP), which be detailed later this year.

“Samsung Smart Home enables home devices connectivity through a single integrated platform; provides foundation for emerging ecosystem of connected home services”

Initial deployment of Samsung Smart Home will cover a range of Samsung Smart TVs, home appliances, mobile and wearable devices. And during the upcoming months and years, the service will expand its coverage by including additional Samsung products as well as other manufacturers devices and appliances.

For sure, we will hear more about Samsung’s Smart Home project during the CES 2014, which happens in Las vegas between 6th and 10th of January.¬†
