Samsung Announces Galaxy Note 3

Today, at the pre-IFA event by Samsung called Samsung Unpacked Episode 2, South Korean Tech giant annouced new “phablet” flagship – Galaxy Note 3.

Comparing to previous generation, Note 3 brings improvemements to the look and feel of the device. The rear cover is now covered with material similiar to leather with a stitched finish which makes it look like journal, and the shape of the phone is now more edgy.

The Note 3 uses a 5.7-inch AMOLED screen with a fullHD resolution (1920×1080), and its slightly larger than previous model but suprisely there is no extra width added. As for the SoC inside, there are two options available (depending of market). An Latest Samsung 1.9Ghz Exynos octa-core processor, or Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 clocked at 2.3Ghz. Device will also pack 3GB of RAM, which will probably make it fly when using applications in multi-tasking. The Note 3 will launch running Android 4.3 out of the box and new TouchWiz Launcher which adds plenty of software enhancements like Air Command, which opens a sub-menu when the user clicks the S-Pen stylus, but we will dig into software secrets when we will have our hands on firmware or device itself.

As usual in whole line of Samsung products, battery will be fully removable, and in Galaxy Note 3 we will see a improved (comparing to Note 2) capacity of 3200mAh. Storage options are 16, 32 and 64 GB, with option to extend it using microSD cards (up to 64GB). One of most interesting parts of Note 3 hardware is build-in back 13MP camera, which allows of shooting 4K videos, and standard FullHD videos with a speed of 60fps. Another notable feature is in audio specs, Note 3 supports Ultra High Quality Audio (~192KHz, 24 bit) for music playback.

For connectivity, device supports dual-band WiFI (a/b/g/n/c) (HT80), GPS/AGPS/GLONASS support, NFC, BT 4.0 LE, IR Led (Remote Controll) and MHL 2.0 Port. Category 4 LTE will also be supported but as we managed to find out, it will be only in Qualcomm powered devices, Exynos may not have LTE support – but we will try to get more info about it soon. There are also plenty of sensors inside, including: Gesture sensor, Accelerometer, Geo-magnetic sensor, Gyroscope, RGB sensor, Proximity sensor, Barometer, Temperature & Humidity sensor, and Hall Sensor.

The Note 3 will launch in black, white, and pink color options, with variety of interchangeable back covers and flip covers in various colors

Note 3 will be available starting from September 25th in 120 countries, worldwide availability is set for October.
