Sprint, Samsung and WIP to host Developer Hackathon prior to the Sprint Open Solutions Conference
Sprint, Samsung, and the Wireless Industry Partnership (WIP) recently announced that they will be hosting a Hackathon for app developers on Tuesday, October 23rd. The event will coincide with Sprint’s Open Solutions Conference, which is being held on October 24th and 25th at the San Jose Convention Center, in San Jose, California. The Hackathon will feature cash prizes and recognition for app developers.
This event is a great opportunity for app developers to showcase their talents and gain recognition and notoriety with Sprint and its partners. Sprint recognizes that app developers help to create a unique experience and are an important partner in the mobile phone business. Since 2001, Sprint has provided developers access to their products through the Sprint Developer program. An added bonus for app developers is the ability to network with Sprint partners. The list of Sprint’s sponsors and development partners includes: Samsung; Adobe; Kovio; Jibe, Crittercism; Github; and Neustar.
Sprint is excited to host a Hackathon event with Samsung and WIP in conjunction with the Open Solutions Conference. The Hackathon will provide app developers an opportunity to compete with their peers in the following categories:
* Best in Show – the top rated app at Hackathon. (Cash prizes (1st Place – $7000; 2nd Place – $2000; 3rd Place: $1000) will be award to the top developers in the best in show category and the top app will be prominently recognized by Sprint CEO Dan Hesse during his keynote address.)
* Best NFC App
* Best HTML5/Hybrid App (the winner will receive a 1-year subscription to the Adobe Master Collection)
* Samsung S Pen Categories
* Best Commerce App
* Best Use of Mobile Advertising
* Best use of Jibe SDK (The winning team will receive a $2000 cash prize)
There is a potential for additional categories and prizes, which will be announced at a future date.
The cost to register for Hackathon is $20 per developer. Registration includes a free pass to Sprint’s Open Solutions Conference (a $350 value) meals, snacks, and giveaway’s from conference partners.
Sprint’s Open Solutions Conference is being held to promote Sprint’s open strategy for providing developers the ability to have access to Sprint and its partners for the purpose of fostering development.
